Lesson 9-19 Jesus’s Deity Under Attack

Our number one desire for these Bible lessons are for them to be understandable, defendable, and most important for the Holy Spirit to bear witness that the conclusions are the true, and correct interpretation of the Holy Scriptures.

Guidelines for our Bible studies on this website:

1. We treat the living words of the living God as spoken by the Lord Jesus and given to the Apostle Paul for the Body of Christ the same importance, as the words of the Lord Jesus recorded in red letters in the books of Matthew – Acts Chp. 8, as what should be known as the instructions to the nation Israel.
2. We will not be wresting the scriptures against each other, we will look at the verses in their context, and will not try to make the scriptures say anything, but what they say.
3. We will be using the verses out of the Authorized Version, commonly known as the KJV. It is fine if you want to look the verses up in other translations if you like, but we will consider the Authorized Version as our final written authority.
4. We do not and will not use the Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic, or Latin languages to prove any points, or give any indication that the Authorized Version has been incorrectly translated.

I hope these studies are interesting enough to provoke you to study your Bible, and for you to grow in the grace and knowledge of our savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Paul said in 2 Tim. Chp 2 verse [15] “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

It never ceases to amaze me when I ask people if they think Satan would be involved in changing or corrupting God’s word every one of them answers yes immediately.

Funny thing is, when I ask them if they think these new translations could be the corrupted word of God, they almost always say no.

Now the Apostle Paul said in 2nd Cor. [17] “For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.” In verse 10 of that same Chp. he said this [11] “Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.”

I hope you know that Satan was an active participant in the very first sin recorded in the Bible, and how did Satan beguile Eve, he convinced her it didn’t matter which version of what God said, but that simply God had lied to her, and she would not die. Well that did not pan out very well for her!

So, for our first verse to see if a Christian should be using these new translations, we will be making the point that all these new bibles basically align themselves with the Jehovah’s Witnesses. On the deity of Jesus, you should know they do not believe that Jesus Christ is God, but was in fact Satan’s (Lucifer) brother.

I have chosen to use the New International Version for the comparisons, as it is representative of the modern translations that all the major denominations such as the Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterians, Catholics, etc. are now using.

First verse:

New World Translation Luke 2 [33] “And the child’s father and mother continued wondering at the things being spoken about him.”

New International Version Luke 2 [33] “The child’s father and mother marveled at what was said about him.”

King James Version Luke 2 [33] “And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him.”

Notice that the Holy Spirit guided the KJV translators to not make the mistake of calling Joseph the father of Jesus, but specifically identified him as “Joseph” not the father of Jesus.

This is so simple that any baby Christian can see it!

Now there are people who will argue that Mary called Joseph his father in Luke 2 verse 48 which is true, but what happened there, well Jesus rebuked her in verse 49, and clearly identified that Joseph was not his father. Go read it for yourself.

Luke 2 [48] And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.

[49] And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?

In verse 49 Jesus questions his mother about her intention of seeking him and rebukes her for not knowing that he was doing God's work, his father! This is the only correct way this statement can be interpreted to mean.

I am so thankful for the Preachers that were my mentors were Bible Believers and not bible correctors!

Satan is having a field day with the Body of Christ with all these modern-day preachers proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom with its earthly kingdom hope, repentance, confession of sins, and water baptism required to be saved or a member of a denomination, Miraculous signs as evidence of salvation, such as speaking in tongues and healing; Teaching the observance of the law, teaching the conditional forgiveness of sins based on forgiving others, teaching forsaking all and selling all to gain eternal life, Having the authority to forgive sins, Reaching Jerusalem and Israel first.

These things are simply incompatible with the truths found in the Pauline epistles, and the gospel of the grace of God. Even if you believe the Bible and you fail to understand the word of truth rightly divided you can still be misled, not lost just misled, and rendered a useless Christian witness.

We are saved not by our works, but by our faith in the crucified and risen Lord Jesus!

With modern day technology being what it is, it is very easy to do word searches and check when someone quotes a Bible verse or tells you something is in the Bible for you to look it up and verify if they are pulling your leg!

The Truth of God’s Holy word is easy to determine if you let the Holy Spirit lead you.

Remember all of the confusion among Christianity/Christians today can be attributed to the simple fact that the church, the Body of Christ, does not recognize the separate, distinct, and unique apostleship, ministry, and message of Paul.

If you have never trusted the Lord Jesus as your savior, I encourage you to believe in him and invite him to save you today! All one need do is to trust and believe in the Lord Jesus’s death, burial and resurrection for the forgiveness of sins to be made new in him.

Gal.2 [16] Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified

Eph.3 [17] That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, [19] And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

What a great day that will be when Jesus Christ returns in all his glory, friend don’t let that day take you unawares. Today Jesus has his arms outstretched and open to sinners to put their trust in him. One day we will all stand before him either as our savior or our judge, don’t put it off invite Jesus to save you today!

"The crowd that will not accept one truth will decay to the point that it does not accept one God: many denominations, many translations, many gods."

The words of our Apostle Paul, the Apostle to the Gentiles!

2Tim.2 [15] Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Lesson 7-19 To Hear and Not Understand

Our number one desire for these Bible lessons are for them to be understandable, defendable, and most important for the Holy Spirit to bear witness that the conclusions are the true, and correct interpretation of the Holy Scriptures.

Guidelines for our Bible studies on this website:

1. We treat the living words of the living God as spoken by the Lord Jesus and given to the Apostle Paul for the Body of Christ the same importance, as the words of the Lord Jesus recorded in red letters in the books of Matthew – Acts Chp. 8, as what should be known as the instructions to the nation Israel.

Every Southern Baptist preacher, and other supposed Greek Scholar, use the verses below to make you think that you need their superior intellect, and knowledge of the Greek Language to understand these simple verses. They stain at gnats and swallow camels!

I now want to share with you an example of how these silly Greek language obsessed preachers, mislead and deceive young new Christian converts. Us older Christians are a little harder to fool with their Satanic deceptions.

Acts 9 “[4] And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? [5] And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. [6] And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do. [7] And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.”

Acts 22 “[7] And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? [8] And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest. [9] And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me.”

Issue: They take the young Christians to the passages and show them that in Chp. 9 where it is recorded that the men with Paul heard the voice of the Lord Jesus, but in Chp. 22 it is recorded they heard not the voice of the Lord Jesus. A supposed contradiction?

What they tell the young Christians: That the only way to understand the supposed contradiction is for a person with their superior intellect and knowledge of the Greek Language to clear this up for the unlearned baby Christian.

Well let’s check and see if this argument is true. As always, I like to use the word of the living God to test what people teach.

In Matt. we find the following two verses that I believe can help us understand and clear up any confusion with the verses in Acts, without having to go to an outside source such as the Greek language to clear up this issue.

Matt. 13 “[13] Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. [14] And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:”

Notice in the verses that we have a similar word pattern, Jesus speaks the words “hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.” Then he quotes the Old Testament prophet Esaias who said “By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand”.

It is clear that these people heard his words, but did not understand the words, in verse thirteen he accuses them of not hearing or understanding.

Now let’s go back to Acts and look at these verses in light of a little study, “[7] And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.” “[9] And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me.”

In Acts Chp. 9 verse 7 Paul said they heard a voice, I propose to you, when he was retelling the story about his conversion in Chp. 22 verse 9, he was simply saying that the men with him did not understand the words of the voice that they heard in Chp. 9.

Now a side story my wife Theresa calls out to me one day when I am in another room of the house, I without even thinking about it, yelled back at her “Theresa I can’t hear you!”. Did I mean that I did not hear her voice, no of course not, I heard her voice, but could not understand what she said.

You be the judge!

When I was a young Christian it was stated that if you removed the proper names from an Authorized Version/KJV that it was on a fourth-grade reading level.

I run into College graduates all the time that tell me they can’t understand it.

The problem is not the readability, the problem is the words of the Bible can only be discerned and understood by Christians who have been sealed with the Holy Spirit.

No amount of seminary training can help if you are lost, you can never get it!

1Cor. 2 “[13] Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. [14] But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”

Be like the Bereans; Acts 17 "[11] These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so." they searched the scriptures daily to make the things they believed were correct.

Lesson 3-19 Job’s Three Important Questions!

4. We do not and will not use the Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic, or Latin languages to prove any points, or give any indication that the Authorized Version has been incorrectly translated.

2Tim.2 [15] Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

I hope these studies are interesting enough to provoke you to study your Bible and for you to grow in the grace and knowledge of our savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Now let’s look at three questions that worried the Old Testament saint Job.

I believe every individual on planet Earth, also like Job, desires to know the answers to these most important questions. Job’s questions were Where do I find God, how can I be justified with God, and if I die will I live again?

First, we will look at Job’s dilemma of where to find God.

“Job.23 [3] Oh that I knew where I might find him! that I might come even to his seat!”

We find the answer to all of Job’s questions answered by and in Jesus Christ. There are many verses that prove Jesus is the very God that Job was looking for, so for brevity I am only going to share a couple, I encourage all of you to look at these verses for yourself.

Paul, spoke the following words in Titus and Philippians;

“Titus 2; [13] Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; [14] Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.”

“Philippians 3 [7] But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. [8] Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, [9] And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: [10] That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; [11] If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.”

The next question we look at is (How can a man be justified with god?), this is one of the most important questions ever asked by any man in the history of the world.

“Job.25 [4] How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?”

I remember as a young Christian 45 years ago, a line in one of my favorite hymns was “What can wash away my sin, nothing but the blood of Jesus.” This simple line is the answer to Job’s question.

Jesus Christ is the only major world religion founder who died as a sacrificial atonement for the sins of mankind.

“2nd Corinthians [21] For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”

Jesus Christ is the only major world religion founder who rose from the dead to demonstrate His power and authority.

“1st Corinthians 15 [3] For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; [4] And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”

I have spent every day of my life for the last 45 years reaching out to people, friends, family, coworkers, associates, etc. sharing the good news that Jesus is the way to eternal life.

If you have never trusted in the Lord Jesus for your salvation, may today be that day.

The last question we will look at is equally important to every man, woman and child. (If a man die, shall he live again?)

“Job.14 [14] If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.”

I remember before I became a Christian, as a young man, having this thought, “you mean I am going to live 75 or 80 years here on planet Earth, then die and that’s it!”.

It’s when I came to the realization, that in this world being without Christ, meant I was without hope, I trusted him as my savior.

We see Job’s answer fulfilled in the words of the Lord Jesus to Martha, when Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead.

“John 14 [23] Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. [24] Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. [25] Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: [26] And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? [27] She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.”

Also, we see the answer to Job’s question, when Jesus himself was resurrected from the dead.

“Rom.1 [1] Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, [2] (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,) [3] Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; [4] And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:”

Another interesting fact is that Job asked that question in chapter 14, but by the time we get to Job chapter 19 he makes this statement, it is apparent that the living God (Jesus) gave him the answer to his question, long before Jesus himself would prove the answer to be true.

“Job 19 [25] For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: [26] And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: [27] Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.”

Jesus Christ is the only major world religion founder who it is recorded, raised himself from the dead!

With all that said, the message a person must believe today for salvation is the message the Apostle Paul preached, and that is we are saved by grace when we believe Paul’s gospel as given to him by direct revelation from Jesus Christ.

1Cor.15 “[1] Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; [2] By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. [3] For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; [4] And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”

No one preached this gospel prior to Paul’s conversion in Chp. 9 of Acts, go look, go study, eternity is too long to be for you to be wrong and miss heaven!  Don’t count on what someone has told you, go study it for yourself.
