Lesson 8 What Was Jesus Teaching? The Mosaic Law Continues

This is the third study that deals with, what exactly was Jesus teaching in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and the first eight chapters of the book of Acts.

I ask that as we go through these lessons, that you read them, get your Bible, pray, study, and ask the Holy Spirit of the Living God, to help you determine if these teachings are True.

Matt. 28  [16] Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. [17] And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. [18] And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.   [19] Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:   [20] Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

As we continue to look at verse 20, Jesus gives the eleven disciples their marching orders, they are to teach all nations to observe all things whatsoever he had commanded them. Now let us continue to look these commands that Jesus gave the 11 disciples, and see if you believe these are the Christian’s instructions, that we should be following, and doing, in the year of our Lord at the time of this writing April 2015.

We saw in the last lesson that Jesus healed a leper, and then commanded the leper to offer the gift Moses commanded in the book of Leviticus Chp. 14, which we determined was an animal sacrifice.

We determined that, when Jesus told the leper to offer the gift Moses commanded, he was teaching him, and his disciples, to obey the Mosaic Law.

There is no other correct interpretation of these passages, other than Jesus was teaching the Mosaic laws, and the people were to follow them, and the Holy Spirit of the living God bears witness to this fact.

Lets take a quick look at a few of the laws, that were fulfilled by the Lord Jesus after his birth, remember he was fulfilling Old Testament prophecy before he was even born, in that he was in the womb of a virgin foretold in the book of Isaiah!

Luke.2  [22] And when the days of her (Mary) purification
according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord;  [23] (As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord;) [24] And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.  [27] And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law, [39] And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.

Matt. 22 [35] Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, [36] Master, which is the
great commandment in the law?  [37] Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.  [38] This is the first and great commandment.  [39] And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.  [40] On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

In the verses above we see Jesus answered a question posed to him by a lawyer, (lawyers specialized in the law, and even as today, were experts in questions pertaining to the law) about the commandments and clearly states the commandments are the law. When Jesus answers the lawyer, Jesus tells him on these two commandments hang all the law.

I hate to sound like a broken record but Jesus was teaching the people, and his disciples, to follow the law!

Unfortunately so many Christians today have never taken the time to read, and or study the Bible for themselves, they just take the word of some preacher, priest, televangelist, etc., who may, or may not be teaching Sound Doctrine.

If a person does not take the time to study the Bible and it’s content for themselves, they will never be able to spiritually discern the difference between Sound Doctrine, and Unsound Doctrine.

Ok lets look at our next verse, which I believe will remove any doubt that you may have as to what the Lord Jesus was teaching in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and the first eight chapters of the book of Acts.

Matt.23  [1] Then spake Jesus
to the multitude, and to his disciples, [2] Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat: [3] All therefore whatsoever they bid you observethat observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not

Ok we see Jesus is talking to the multitude, and  to his disciples, remember in the previous lessons to correctly interpret the scripture, it is important to pay attention to who is being spoken to.

Here in Matt. Chp. 23, Jesus tells his audience that the scribes and Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. What does Moses’ seat mean to the crowd, not much interpretation needed it is the law, when you see Moses mentioned in the Bible it is most often associated with the law, just read it, and believe it, it is that simple!

What does the Lord Jesus tell the multitude and disciples they are to do? They are to observe and do whatsoever the scribes and Pharisees tell them to do.

Now I bet everyone reading this can guess what the scribes and Pharisees were telling the people to do, but just in case you cannot, I am going to tell you, they were teaching the people to follow the Old Testament prophet Moses’s laws, that the Old Testament God, the great I AM that I AM, gave to Moses!

He also cautioned against the people being like the scribes and Pharisees in just saying the law, and not doing the law.

That is what Jesus was teaching, and continued to teach his whole ministry, as I have stated before, no where prior to Chapter 9 of the book of Acts with the conversion of the Apostle Paul, did the Lord Jesus, his disciples, or any of his followers ever tell anyone that they were not to continue to do all things that were written in the Mosaic law!

One more time, Jesus was teaching the law, and that is what he commanded the 11 disciples to go and teach the world in the supposed Great Commission.

This is not the message, or the Commission for the Body of Christ in 2015!

Jesus gave a new  commission, and new message to the Apostle Paul, which we will prove beyond a shadow of doubt in the continuing lessons.

The words of our Apostle Paul, the Apostle to the Gentiles!

2Tim.2 [15] Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Remember most unsound Bible Doctrine, is sound Bible Doctrine misapplied to the wrong time period, or wrong group of people.

Lesson 7 What Was Jesus Teaching? The Mosaic Law

This study is the second of several that will deal with, what exactly was Jesus teaching in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

I want to suggest to you that as we go through these lessons, that you read them, get your Bible, pray, study, and ask the Holy Spirit of the Living God to help you determine if these teachings are true.

Amen.

Ok let’s look at verse 20 again, Jesus gives the eleven disciples their marching orders, they are to teach people to observe all things whatsoever
he had commanded them. Now let us look at these commands that Jesus gave the 11 disciples in the next few lessons, and see if you believe these commands are the Christian’s instructions, that we should be following, and doing, in the year of our Lord at the time of this writing April 2015.

Matt.5 [17] Think not that I (Jesus) am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. [18] For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Matt.5 [19] Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus in these verses is teaching his disciples, and the people, to follow the Mosaic Law.

In Matthew chapter 5, Jesus speaking says that he did not come to destroy the law, but to fulfil it. He goes on and issues a stern warning against anyone who would teach people to break even one of these commands.

Fact is most Christians are guilty of breaking, and teaching people to break one of the Ten Commandments, very few Christians keep the Sabbath Day as commanded in the Old Testament, and it really is one of the big ones! In case you don’t know it, Saturday is the Sabbath, not Sunday.

In our studies of Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and the first eight chapters of Acts, we will see that no one, Jesus included, or any of Jesus’s disciples, ever told one person, at any time, that they no longer had to follow the Mosaic law and all the things written, and contained their in.

In fact we will see that Jesus follows the law, and teaches his followers, to follow the Old Testament Laws that he (Jesus) gave to Moses in the wilderness, for the Israelites to follow. Remember when Moses asked God, who do I tell the children of Israel hath sent me, and God told him, tell them “
I AM hath sent me unto you.”

That was the Lord Jesus talking to Moses, Jesus is not just the God of the New Testament, he is the God of the Old Testament as well!

Exod.3 [14] And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
John.8
[57] Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? [58] Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

Of course this is another subject for another day, I want to provoke you to think, read, and study the scriptures to see if these things are so.

Matt. Chp 7 [12] Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

By the time we get to Matt. Chp. 7 Jesus has already fulfilled, at least 9 Old Testament prophecies!

Matt. Chp 8 [1] When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. [2] And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him (Jesus), saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. [3] And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. [4] And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

You know I don’t have to make a lot of comments to teach you this, because if you read and let the Holy Spirit enlighten your eyes it all becomes clear, simply by comparing spiritual things, with spiritual! What happened here in Chp. 8 Jesus heals a leper, just by touching him, and saying I will be thou clean! Its that simple.

But the part I want you to really pay attention to, and ponder, is not what Jesus did for the leper, but what he told the leper to do after he was healed! He tells the leper to show himself to the priest, and offer the gift that
Moses commanded, it is the Mosaic Law! Jesus clearly teaches this leper to follow the Law!

Alright lets look at Leviticus Chp. 14, and find out what Moses commanded.

Lev.14 [1] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, [2] This shall be
the law of the leper in the day of his cleansing: He shall be brought unto the priest: [3] And the priest shall go forth out of the camp; and the priest shall look, and, behold, if the plague of leprosy be healed in the leper; [4] Then shall the priest command to take for him that is to be cleansed two birds alive and clean, and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop: [5] And the priest shall command that one of the birds be killed in an earthen vessel over running water: [6] As for the living bird, he shall take it, and the cedar wood, and the scarlet, and the hyssop, and shall dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over the running water: [7] And he shall sprinkle upon him that is to be cleansed from the leprosy seven times, and shall pronounce him clean, and shall let the living bird loose into the open field.

Now I don’t have to try and force, or wrestle with the scriptures to make them say anything but what they say, all one has to do is read, believe, and let the Holy Spirit of God enlighten your eyes.

The Holy Spirit, bears witness in my spirit that Jesus was teaching his disciples, and the people, to follow the Mosaic Law!

What about you, is this not clear Jesus taught that leaper to follow the Law of Moses, when was the last time you heard a Christian preacher teaching someone to follow the Old Testament Law and to sacrifice, that is to kill an animal for an offering?

Time for another true story, a few years back, I was working in White Sands, New Mexico, every morning for several weeks, I passed by a church with a sign out in front of their building with the following statement!  JUST KEEP THE TEN COMMANDMENTS!

How many of you reading this, believes that keeping the Ten Commandments, is what Bible Believing Christians are commanded to be preaching, and teaching to the world today, during this time period in which we live, the year of our Lord currently April 2015?

One more time, Jesus was teaching
the law, and that is what he commanded the 11 disciples to go and teach the world in the supposed Great Commission.

This is not the message, or the Commission for the Body of Christ! Jesus gave a new commission, and message to the Apostle Paul, which we intend to prove beyond a shadow of doubt in the upcoming lessons.

All of the confusion among Christianity/Christians today can be attributed to the simple fact that the church, the Body of Christ, does not recognize the separate, distinct, and unique apostleship, ministry, and message of Paul.

If you fail to understand, or fail to learn how to rightly divide the word of truth, you can never come to the knowledge of the truth, and sound doctrine.

Romans 10 [8] But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; [9] That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. [10] For with theheart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

The words of our Apostle Paul, the Apostle to the Gentiles!

2Tim.2 [15] Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Come join with us as we study God’s Holy Word!

Lesson 6 What Was Jesus Teaching? God's Prophetic Program

This lesson is the first of several that will deal with, what exactly was Jesus teaching in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

I want to suggest to you that as we go through these lessons, that you read them, get your Bible, pray, study, and ask the Holy Spirit of the Living God to help you determine if these teachings are True.

But before we look at the actual teachings of Jesus, I would like to take some time to talk about the first, and foremost, thing that Jesus accomplished in the book of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

In the Old Testament, God told the prophets words to write down about events that were going to happen at a future date, in time.

Probably two of the best known, and most familiar to Christians out of the Old Testament, is in the books written by the prophets, Isaiah and Micah, concerning the birth, and birthplace of Jesus.

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Micah 5But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

So the first and foremost thing he accomplished here on planet Earth, was to fulfill the Old Testament prophecies concerning himself, the things written in the law of Moses, and the psalms.

This is known as God’s Prophetic Program in most Christian circles, and is made up simply of the prophecies of the Old Testament that were to be fulfilled in the future, example: Jesus being born in Bethlehem, to a virgin, Old Testament prophecy fulfilled in the New Testament. It’s that simple!

Matt.5 [17] Think not that I (Jesus) am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. [18] For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the lawtill all be fulfilled

Luke 24 [44] And he (Jesus) said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.(Jesus)  [45] Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

Acts 3 [20] And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:
[21] Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.

Also, I want to tell you that the holy prophets had been speaking of these things since the world began, in other words their words were not a secret, or something hid.

Example: When the wise men came to Herod and asked him where is he that is born of King of Jews, Herod immediately asked the chief priests and scribes where Christ should be born, they immediately quoted to him from the scriptures, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet, these words are straight out of Micah chp. 5 verse 2.

Now I am going to give you something that will help you in the near future, as we look at Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John closer, these books are prophetic in nature, there is nothing in them that was not foretold, or being foretold by Jesus, who also was a prophet himself.

Ok, lets look at one of the commands that Jesus gave to the 11 disciples.

(Received a comment from a person who questioned why I said 11 disciples, at this time that is all Jesus was talking to, see Matt. 28 verse 16, Judas had hanged himself, and a replacement disciple had not yet been chosen.)

Matt. 28 [19] Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:  [20] Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Verse 19 & 20 has come to be known as the Great Commission, the majority of Christian religious systems have laid claim to these verses, and use them as their marching orders to preach, and take their particular beliefs into the entire world.

Of course there is little agreement among the different Christian organizations on exactly what teachings they are to be communicating to the world, other than “baptizing them in water” but after that, whatever particular belief each denomination or non-denominational, group holds in highest regard, is what they teach.

Funny thing is, in my 41 years as a Christian, I have discovered these Christian organizations are not even consistent when it comes to the first one “baptizing them in water”. Let me share with you, to make the point, the following experiences I personally have had.

I want you to know I am not making fun of these Christians at all, but I think this is one of  the best ways to teach you how to compare, spiritual things with spiritual, and exercise your spiritual discernment.

When I was a child I was in a group that utilized sprinkling with water on the top of the head, for baptism.

Later on I discovered a group that believed you had to be fully immersed in the water, in order to be properly baptized.

Next group I was introduced to, believed that was not good enough, but you had to be fully immersed in the water, by one of their church elders, or you would die and go to hell.

Next I ran into a group that if you had been fully immersed in the water, but the preacher baptized you in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, instead of just using the phrase “in the name of Jesus” your baptism didn't count, and it would have to be redone if you want them to accept you as a real believer.

Just one more, I kid you not, I had a person tell me that their organization baptized their new converts by full immersion, three times face forward, when I asked why, I was told Jesus never did anything backwards.

There also is subset of water baptism: infant baptism, teenager baptism, re-baptism after someone has been a really bad person, re-baptism if you try and join a different Christian group, they want to make sure you have submitted to their particular way of baptizing, and these groups get real serious over who, and how a person was baptized.

We see in the Old Testament when the Lord Jesus gave the Nation Israel instructions on how to perform animal sacrifices, they were clear, step by step instructions, so the people would not have any problem following them.  ( John.8 [58] Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.)

Personally, I think if water baptism had been for the Church of this dispensation the Body of Christ, the Lord would have provided clear and specific instructions on how this water baptism was to be accomplished.

And then we have this command that Jesus gave to the Apostle Paul, that most Christian religious systems choose to overlook, and not deal with.

Paul says in 1 Corinthians 1:17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

A little food for thought It appears that Jesus gave the Apostle Paul different instructions concerning water baptism, than he gave to the 11 disciples? Also when Paul tells us how a person is to be saved in the dispensation of Grace, he makes no mention of water baptism.

Rom.10 [9] That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. [10] For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

I think you get the point, but this lesson is not about water baptism, I will address water baptism in a future post, but not today.

The point to remember as we go forward, and as we look at what Jesus taught in the books of Mathew, Mark, Luke, John, these books are a fulfillment of the Old Testament prophet's words concerning the King, of the Kingdom, the Christ that was prophesied in the Old Testament, the Lord Jesus.

Lesson 5 Great Commission "Drinking Deadly Poison"

I hope none of you reading this today, will be drinking deadly poison to show your faith in Jesus Christ, at least I certainly hope you don't try this at home!

Now I believe that most people who started with us at lesson 1, and who are still with us today, will agree that Christians are not following, or at least are not following all of the Commandments that God gave in the Old Testament.

Also Christians are not following all the Commands that Jesus gave to the 12 disciples, and then to the 11 disciples. (Remember Judas resigned his position as one of the disciples, that is why the number went down to 11, and back to 12 after his accession into heaven)

C:\Users\astephns\Desktop\GettyImages_50514768.jpg

Above in the photo you will notice that the Preacher is “Preaching to the Lost Sheep of the House of Israel”. This is a command that Jesus gave to his 12 disciples in Matt. 10 [5] These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: [6] But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

In this lesson I would like to continue looking at some of the commands that Jesus gave his 12 disciples, and then the 11 disciples, to determine if we as Christians should be following those commands.

We have hopefully learned that if we want to know whether a spiritual experience is a spiritual experience that aligns with the word of God, we should do that by comparing spiritual things with spiritual things, and letting the Holy Spirit enlighten our eyes to the truth.

We performed a simple test in lesson 2 and 3, on how to compare spiritual things, with spiritual things, and determine if they are Biblically correct.

In this lesson I would like to give you another verse that will aid in determining truth from error.   We have the example of the Bereans found in Acts Chp. 17 that will greatly aid us as we continue to study together to be able to determine truth from error.

Acts.17 [11] These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Here we see the Bereans, received the word with all readiness of mind and searched the scriptures daily, to find out whether the things that were being told to them were so. This is still one of the best ways to keep someone from deceiving us or pulling our leg.

Now we will keep building on the foundation of the Chief Cornerstone the Lord Jesus.
Ok lets look at what the Christians have been told is the Great Commission, and the Christians marching orders and see how well we are doing at following it.

Mark 16 [14] Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.  [15] And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. [16] He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. [17] And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; [18] They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Now some things I want you to notice, Jesus here in these verses is talking to just his 11 disciples. When studying the Bible it is very important to pay attention to who is talking, but also just as important who is being talked to.

Example; If I started building an Ark in my backyard, you stop by and ask me, what you doing Alfred, I am building an Ark I tell you, you ask why are you building an Ark, I answer because it is in the Bible, God said to build an Ark.Gen. Chp 6 [13] And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. [14] Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch. It is true that God said to build an Ark in the Bible, but it is very important to point out, he didn't tell Alfred to build an Ark, he told Noah to build the Ark.

I hear these preachers all the time talking about the Bible has 3000 promises in it, like anyone can just go into the Bible, pick which ever promise they want to claim, it is now their promise and God has to make it happen for them the way it happened to the person the promise was actually given to.

Let me tell you that is not the way it works!

That is why it is so important to pay attention to who Jesus is giving directions to, when he is giving the directions (time periods are very important in Bible understanding), and does it apply to the Christians living today.

In our verses for this lesson we see the words Go ye into all the world, it is clear in the text that he is talking to the 11 disciples, and no one else is there with them when he is passing these instructions along.

The Lord Jesus uses the word shall seven times in verses 17 and 18 to tell his 11 disciples, the signs that are going to follow them that believe. Now if you believe the instructions that Jesus was giving to the 11 in these verses are for us today, then I propose to you, we better see those signs happening as evidence of us being true believers.

I will share with you at this point, I do not believe those verses containing those instructions are for the Body of Christ, Christians living in this world today.

The title of this lesson is “Drinking Deadly Poison” this practice is not so big as it once was. I believe the reason being, it is a lot trickier to do everyday without killing yourself, as it is hard to judge just how much poison you can drink and not suffer harm.

In fact the reason we don’t see serpent handling in every church is because although the snakes are easier to handle,  than determining the amount of poison one can drink and still survive, the serpents will kill you if you are not careful.

Remember Pastor Coots from lesson 2, he is no longer with us, a serpent bit him, he suffered great harm and died.

Remember serpent handling is not just a thing in the mountains of Kentucky, or Tennessee, we see “serpents handled” in circuses, reptile zoos, serpentariums, in India with the snake charmers, all around the world and these people handling the serpents is no sign of anyone being a believer in Jesus Christ.

One of the biggest problems today for Christians is “Drinking the Deadly Poison of Unsound Doctrine” being passed around.

It is my prayer everyday that these lessons will help you grow into a mature Christian who can share the correct message for today from the Bible!

That message is that Jesus Christ; died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was

buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.  (1st Cor. Chp 15)

Romans 10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

That is our clear and simple message, that we as ambassadors for Christ are to be teaching.

2nd Corinthians 5 [19] To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. [20] Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. [21] For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Remember Satan does not care what you share with the world, just as long it is not the truth, or it is the truth misapplied to the wrong period of time or the wrong group of people it was intended for.

The Truth of God’s Holy word is easy to determine if you let the Holy Spirit lead you.

Remember all of the confusion among Christianity/Christians today can be attributed to the simple fact that the church, the Body of Christ, does not recognize the separate, distinct, and unique apostleship, ministry, and message of Paul.

If you have never trusted the Lord Jesus as your savior, I encourage you to believe in him and invite him to save you today! All one need do is to trust and believe in the Lord Jesus’s death, burial and resurrection for the forgiveness of sins to be made new in him.

Gal.2 [16] Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified

Eph.3 [17] That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, [19] And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

What a great day that will be when Jesus Christ returns in all his glory, friend don’t let that day take you unawares. Today Jesus has his arms outstretched and open to sinners to put their trust in him. One day we will all stand before him either as our savior or our judge, don’t put it off invite Jesus to save you today!

"The crowd that will not accept one truth will decay to the point that it does not accept one God: many denominations, many translations, many gods."

If you fail to understand, or fail to learn how to rightly divide the word of truth, you can never come to the knowledge of the truth, and sound doctrine.

2Tim.2 [15] Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Lesson 4 Terms Defined

Explanation and Definitions

I received an email this morning, and I felt the comments were important enough to address them in a lesson, before continuing to look at the Great Commission.

"Email I received this morning, "I have been to the website a couple times and find it interesting. Couple Considerations      1st comment;    You may wish to define what you mean by “rightly dividing”.  That is subject to interpretation."

I immediately realized that these posts are being read by a large group of people with different backgrounds and viewpoints.

This includes different Christian belief systems, ages, education levels, nonbelievers searching for truth, people of different countries, maybe even people of different religions, etc..

This warrants that I make these lessons so easy, that even a Georgia Plow Boy, or the son of a Georgia Plow Boy such as myself, can understand these lessons, and that the Bible becomes easy for any true believer to understand.

1st comment answered; I would like to address the term “Rightly Divided” or “Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth” and what that term means to me.

2Tim.2 [15] Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Paul said in 2nd Tim. that we as believers should study and rightly divide the word of truth.
So when I use the term rightly divided or rightly dividing the word truth, I am talking about divisions, sections, or verses in the Bible that apply to different people, different groups of people, etc. or different time periods or a combination of both, and I will provide examples.

First example, and one probably ninety nine percent of the people reading these posts will agree with.

Most everyone sees the Bible divided into two parts, the Old Testament and New Testament.

I believe this would be an example of Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth, and agree with this division. I will tell you that I believe, and plan on proving that there are additional divisions in the Bible.

Second example, Jesus himself rightly divided the scriptures!

Luke.4 [18] The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, [19] To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. [20] And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. [21] And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

Isa.61 [1] The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; [2] To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

In Luke Chp 4. Jesus was reading an Old Testament prophetic passage out of Isaiah Chp 61, now notice he stopped mid-sentence, closed the book, and sat down.

His audience was obviously smitten by his reading of the Word of God, again notice everybody’s eyes were fastened on him, and then he tells them that the scripture he just read was fulfilled in their ears!

Now I cannot talk about this, and not tell you, I believe when the Lord Jesus Christ who created the world, and everything in it, who gave those very words to the prophet Isaiah to write down and record 700 years prior to himself being born in the flesh as the Lamb of God, must have been a marvelous thing to hear.

Think about that, to have Jesus the very author of those words, now reading those words to that group of people.

Moving on let’s look at how Jesus rightly divided the word of truth in this situation.

When he stopped reading mid-sentence, it is because when you look at Isa. 61 verse 2 after the comma, it says the day of vengeance of our God, this part of the sentence had not, and has not taken place yet, even until this day.

Thus Jesus knowing “the day of vengeance of our God”  had not taken place yet, and that that part of the sentence has a future fulfillment, Jesus simply stopped reading, sat down, and told the congregation the part of the verse that he had just read was fulfilled in their ears that very day.

Thus we see that Jesus rightly divided the Word of Truth, in that he only applied the part of the scriptures that belonged to the period of time in history that it was written for.

Learning to rightly divide the Bible, word of truth, scriptures, is one of the most important things you can do.

Rightly dividing, is simply taking the words and teachings that belong to you as a member of the Body of Christ, and being able to separate them from the words and teachings that belong to the Nation Israel or whatever person or group of people God intended those instructions for.

We are not living under or by the Mosaic Law, but living by Grace, and letting the Holy Spirit shine forth Christ in you.

I view the Bible, word of truth, scriptures, “Living Words of the Living God”,  as all being the words of the Lord Jesus.

2nd  comment;  "Also, you may want to develop the argument in favor of the KJV more fully. For example, the canon.  Why are the books of the KJV there?  What holds them above other non-canonical writings?  Maybe also discuss if you uphold Sola Scriptura?  Sola Fide?"

2nd  comment answered;  Although anybody who has known me for any length of time is well aware that I do not believe all Bibles are created equal, and I myself believe that we as English speaking people should be using the Authorized Version commonly known as the KJV.

I have come to believe rightly dividing the Bible, the word of truth, scriptures, etc. is a subject on par with which Bible you use, as 99% of the new English translations of the Bible have altered the 2nd Tim. Chp 2 verse 15 known as the rightly dividing verse!

I also know many Religious Systems which promote the KJV, and in the Christian circles are known as cults, so just using a KJV does not guarantee sound doctrine, no matter which Bible you use, if you can not divide out the instructions that apply to you today it does you no good.

I do plan on having lessons on all the aforementioned items in the 2nd comment, but it is hard to cover 41 years of Bible Study in 4 lessons, or at least not in 4 short lessons.

I also plan on adding a page covering Bible definitions and terms that may not be familiar to the new comers to the Christian Faith. If you have a Christian term or word that you would like added to the list email me at biblerightlydivided@gmail.com

Remember Satan’s favorite tool, is Bible Truth misused, or misapplied to the wrong group of people, or the wrong time period, or a combination of both.
