This is the third study that deals with, what exactly
was Jesus teaching in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and the first
eight chapters of the book of Acts.
I ask that as we go through these lessons, that you read them, get your Bible,
pray, study, and ask the Holy Spirit of the Living God, to help you determine
if these teachings are True.
Matt. 28 [16] Then
the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain
where Jesus had appointed them. [17] And when they saw him, they worshipped
him: but some doubted. [18] And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying,
All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. [19] Go ye
therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and
of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: [20] Teaching them to observe all things
whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the
end of the world. Amen.
As we continue to look at verse 20, Jesus gives the eleven disciples their
marching orders, they are to teach all nations to observe all things whatsoever he
had commanded them. Now let us continue to look these commands that Jesus gave
the 11 disciples, and see if you believe these are the Christian’s
instructions, that we should be following, and doing, in the year of our Lord
at the time of this writing April 2015.
We saw in the last lesson that Jesus healed a leper, and then commanded the
leper to offer the gift Moses commanded in the book of Leviticus Chp. 14, which
we determined was an animal sacrifice.
We determined that, when Jesus told the leper to offer the gift Moses
commanded, he was teaching him, and his disciples, to obey the Mosaic Law.
There is no other correct interpretation of these passages, other than Jesus
was teaching the Mosaic laws, and the people were to follow them, and the Holy
Spirit of the living God bears witness to this fact.
Lets take a quick look at a few of the laws, that were fulfilled by the Lord
Jesus after his birth, remember he was fulfilling Old Testament prophecy before
he was even born, in that he was in the womb of a virgin foretold in the book
of Isaiah!
Luke.2 [22] And when the days of her
(Mary) purification according to the law of Moses were
accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord;
[23] (As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that
openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord;) [24] And to offer a
sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of
turtledoves, or two young pigeons. [27] And he came by the Spirit into
the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him
after the custom of the law, [39] And when they had performed all
things according to the law of the Lord, they returned
into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.
Matt. 22 [35] Then one of them, which was a
lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, [36] Master, which is
the great commandment in the law? [37]
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy
heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. [38] This is the first and great commandment. [39] And
the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love
thy neighbour as thyself. [40] On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
In the verses above we see Jesus answered a question posed to him by a lawyer,
(lawyers specialized in the law, and even as today, were experts in questions
pertaining to the law) about the commandments and clearly states the
commandments are the law. When Jesus answers the lawyer, Jesus
tells him on these two commandments hang all the law.
I hate to sound like a broken record but Jesus was
teaching the people, and his disciples, to follow the law!
Unfortunately so many Christians today have never taken the time to read, and
or study the Bible for themselves, they just take the word of some preacher,
priest, televangelist, etc., who may, or may not be teaching Sound
Doctrine.
If a person does not take the time to study the Bible and it’s content for
themselves, they will never be able to spiritually discern the difference
between Sound Doctrine, and Unsound Doctrine.
Ok lets look at our next verse, which I believe will remove any doubt that you
may have as to what the Lord Jesus was teaching in the books of Matthew, Mark,
Luke, John and the first eight chapters of the book of Acts.
Matt.23 [1] Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples, [2] Saying, The
scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat: [3] All therefore
whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye
after their works: for they say, and do not.
Ok we see Jesus is talking to the multitude, and to his disciples,
remember in the previous lessons to correctly interpret the scripture, it is
important to pay attention to who is being spoken to.
Here in Matt. Chp. 23, Jesus tells his audience that the scribes and Pharisees
sit in Moses’ seat. What does Moses’ seat mean to the crowd, not much
interpretation needed it is the law, when you see Moses mentioned
in the Bible it is most often associated with the law, just read
it, and believe it, it is that simple!
What does the Lord Jesus tell the multitude and disciples they are to do? They
are to observe and do whatsoever the scribes and Pharisees tell them to do.
Now I bet everyone reading this can guess what the scribes and Pharisees were
telling the people to do, but just in case you cannot, I am going to tell you,
they were teaching the people to follow the Old Testament prophet Moses’s laws,
that the Old Testament God, the great I AM that I AM, gave to Moses!
He also cautioned against the people being like
the scribes and Pharisees in just saying the law, and not
doing the law.
That is what Jesus was teaching, and continued to teach his whole
ministry, as I have stated before, no where prior to Chapter 9 of the book of
Acts with the conversion of the Apostle Paul, did the Lord Jesus, his
disciples, or any of his followers ever tell anyone that they were not to
continue to do all things that were written in the Mosaic law!
One more time, Jesus was teaching the law, and
that is what he commanded the 11 disciples to go and teach the
world in the supposed Great Commission.
This is not the message, or the Commission for the Body of
Christ in 2015!
Jesus gave a new commission, and new message to the
Apostle Paul, which we will prove beyond a shadow of doubt in the continuing lessons.
The words of our Apostle Paul, the Apostle to the Gentiles!
I ask that as we go through these lessons, that you read them, get your Bible, pray, study, and ask the Holy Spirit of the Living God, to help you determine if these teachings are True.

The words of our Apostle Paul, the Apostle to the Gentiles!
I’ve been a born again Christian for more than 18 years. In those 18 years, I’ve attended several different Christian denominations. So I’ve been exposed to a wide spectrum of different Christian doctrine. In all those years, I’ve never come across this kind of teaching. I didn’t grow spiritually, mostly due to my own laziness, but perhaps it was also due to unsound doctrine (“…sound Bible Doctrine misapplied to the wrong time period, or wrong group of people…”). I relied on the teachings of others to feed me, instead of learning the scriptures for myself. The Holy Ghost working through you has opened my eyes (removed the scales) this past year. Thank you brother, looking forward to lesson #9.
